Introduction to this Training Program

Congratulations! If you're reading this you have probably just been hired by the University Library as a student assistant or a work-study student. Any questions not answered in these pages can be answered by your supervisor or Library Administration.
We offer public tours every semester. Please take a tour of the Library so you will have a basic idea of all of our collections and services.
Student workers are important to the functioning of the Library. You are a valuable asset. You help the library run smoothly for our users: the students, staff and faculty and administration of this University and members of the Mobile community.

Library work is also valuable to you: From it you can get:

In order to help you get a good start, this tutorial will take you through the basic concepts that you need to know. Some sections are general, some more specific to what you will be doing on the job. Your supervisor will tell you which skills you need to master, but be aware that this training will be ongoing.
